What is Medical Payments (“Med-Pay”) coverage?

Medical Payments coverage, also known as Med-Pay, is a type of car insurance coverage that is used to pay medical bills. Med-Pay covers individuals who have been injured in a collision regardless of who is at fault. For example, if you have $5,000 in Med-Pay coverage, and someone talking on his cell phone rear ends you and causes you to have to see a doctor, that $5,000 would be used to cover the medical bills from those visits. The same would be true if YOU were the cause of the collision. Importantly, Med-Pay can only be used to pay for medical bills. It cannot be used to cover lost wages, pain and suffering, or physical impairment.

Med-Pay is great coverage because it can be utilized quickly, and it never has to be paid back. Medical Payments coverage is designed to be accessed fast. This is money you can use to pay your doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, and surgeons right away.

Adding Medical Payments to your coverage is relatively cheap, and it is something that you should do. We offer free consultations, and we are happy to review your insurance coverage with you at no cost.
